Director Of Music
H. Gerald Murphy Junior

Gerry began his music studies at age five in Germany where his family was stationed with the R.C.A.F., learning the accordion, organ and, as soon as he was old enough to join, playing euphonium with the Volunteer Band on the Air Base. Gerry went on to master tuba and graduate from Queen's University with honours in Conducting, Music Education, Composition and Arranging. He has performed with the Canadian Forces Bands on tuba and euphonium and taught at public and private elementary schools in addition to directing the Belleville Municipal Band and The Concert Brass. Gerry has performed with many orchestras and chamber ensembles and currently holds the position of Music Director for the Clarington Concert Band. When not composing, arranging or teaching in his home studio, Gerry is also a board member of the Canadian Band Association and the North American Brass Band Association. The Pickering Community Concert Band is honoured to have Gerry on board as our Conductor.
